Prefiltration: how to protect the final filter and lower the cost per liter filtered
Prefiltration that protects the final filter: depth, pleated and hybrid media, nominal vs. absolute ratings, and how to stage the steps to filter more liters.
Prefiltration
Pleated stainless steel mesh cartridge
Prefiltration and clarification of fluids with 304 stainless steel mesh
Pleated 304 stainless steel mesh filter cartridge, 12 to 500 µm, thermally welded and adhesive-free, for prefiltration and clarification of fluids.
The MicroMesh is a filter cartridge with a pleated 304 stainless steel mesh medium made of fine steel fibers. The result is an element resistant to process pressure and temperature, designed for prefiltration and clarification of fluids in industrial processes.
The components that support the mesh are polypropylene. The medium and components are thermally welded together, without glues or adhesives, which makes the cartridge suitable for contact with food, beverages, and pharmaceutical and biological solutions.
It withstands repeated cleaning and high reverse flows, with a low pressure drop and broad chemical compatibility. It is offered in 12, 20, 40, 100, 200, and 500 µm, with a 2.75″ diameter, lengths from 10 to 40″, and SOE and DOE configurations.
Filter medium made of fine stainless steel fibers, resistant to corrosion and high pressure.
Tolerates successive cleanings and high reverse flows, and can be sanitized with hot water at 80 °C or with chemicals.
Mesh and polypropylene components joined without glues: suitable for contact with food, beverages, and pharmaceutical solutions.
Six pore sizes: 12, 20, 40, 100, 200, and 500 µm, with a low pressure drop and broad chemical compatibility.
30 to 60 min cycles at 121 °C in-line or in an autoclave, in SOE cartridges with internal reinforcement at the fitting.
Double 226 or 222 O-ring with fin or flat end, or double open end; Ø 2.75″ and lengths from 10 to 40″.

Yes. The catalog states it is suitable for repeated cleaning and high reverse flows. It is sanitized with hot water at 80 °C or with peracetic acid up to 1 % at room temperature, and cleaned with sodium hydroxide up to 1 %, in cycles of 30 to 60 minutes.
12, 20, 40, 100, 200, and 500 µm, in lengths of 10, 20, 30, and 40″, for prefiltration and clarification of fluids.
Its materials are compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177 for food contact, and it complies with European Directive 2002/72/EC. Because it is thermally welded, without glues or adhesives, the catalog states it is suitable for contact with food, beverages, and pharmaceutical and biological solutions.
Yes. It withstands multiple cycles of 30 to 60 minutes at 121 °C, in-line or in an autoclave. This is recommended only for single-open-end cartridges with internal reinforcement at the 226 / 222 O-ring fitting.
Chemical purification, bulk active ingredients, recovery of catalyst solids, removal of decolorizing carbon, water treatment, and treatment of high-temperature liquids.
