Pressure vessels for gas and liquid treatment

Filter housings and coalescer vessels for gas, housings to retain solids and separate liquids, and basket strainers. We design them for each process and build them in our metal fabrication plant, with design calculations, certificates and hydrostatic testing.

Pressure vessels to retain particles and separate liquids in natural and compressed gases

In a gas stream there are two things to separate: solids—particles, rust, fine sand—and liquids carried as aerosols—water, oil, fuel, condensed hydrocarbons. We design a vessel for each: the filter housing, which holds cartridges to retain particles, and the coalescer vessel, which merges the aerosols into droplets and drains them from the bottom.

Both are built in carbon steel at our metal fabrication plant and sized for each process to ASME VIII Division 1, API, NACE and PED 97/23/EC: single-element or multi-element depending on the flow rate, in a vertical or horizontal configuration, with a quick-opening or bolted closure. Each unit ships with design calculations, detailed engineering with a 3D drawing, material and welder certificates, and a hydrostatic test.

We also manufacture the cartridges for particle filtration: ProFlow, in pleated polypropylene, and MicroFiber, in glass microfiber. They are in the prefiltration category.

Vessels to retain solids and separate liquids in hydrocarbons and process fluids

Three vessels for process liquids. The filter housing holds cartridges that retain solid particles. The liquid-liquid separator holds the elements that separate one liquid from another, such as water entrained in a hydrocarbon. And the SteelFlow CCA basket strainer retains solids in a stainless steel basket, made of perforated plate or mesh, that is washed and reused.

All three are built in carbon steel at our metal fabrication plant. The housings are sized for the process flow rate to ASME VIII Division 1, API, NACE and PED 97/23/EC, for low, medium and high pressure, and the SteelFlow CCA to ASME VIII Division 1. All of them ship with design calculations, detailed engineering with a 3D drawing, material and welder certificates, and a hydrostatic test.

For high flow rates, the SaniFlow HF housing, in AISI 304 or 316L stainless steel, holds 6″ High Flow cartridges: injection water, brines, and chemicals and petrochemicals compatible with the cartridge, at 17 to 250 m³/h recommended per housing. And for high solids loads, the SaniFlow STE-G, also in stainless steel (AISI 304), holds one or three 7″ filter bags: the solids stay in the bag and leave with it at changeout.

We also manufacture the cartridges for particle filtration: ProFlow, in pleated polypropylene, and MicroFiber, in glass microfiber. They are in the prefiltration category.

Frequently asked questions

Pressure vessels: common questions

Which codes are they designed to?

The vessels are sized to ASME VIII Division 1, API, NACE and PED 97/23/EC for the flow rate, pressure and temperature of each process. They ship with design calculations.

What documentation comes with each unit?

Design calculations, detailed engineering with a 3D drawing, material and welder certificates, and hydrostatic testing.

Which materials are they made of?

Filter housings and coalescer vessels are made of carbon steel, with custom exterior paint and finish. The basket strainer is made of carbon steel or stainless steel, with a stainless steel mesh basket.

What information do you need for a quote?

The fluid, the flow rate, the operating pressure and temperature, the retention or separation you need, the connections, and whether the unit is vertical, horizontal or skid-mounted. With that we size it and define the number of elements.
