Carbon steel basket strainer
Solids retention in process lines, with a washable stainless steel basket
Carbon steel basket strainer designed to ASME VIII Division 1, with a washable stainless steel basket: 4″ to 36″ bodies and 2″ to 24″ flanges, #150 to #600.
SteelFlow CCA basket strainers retain the solids in the line in a stainless steel basket, made of perforated plate or mesh, that is removed through the cover, washed and put back in place. The liquid enters through the side flange, flows through the basket from the inside out and leaves through the opposite flange: the solids stay inside the basket.
The vessel is made of carbon steel—SA-516 Gr. 70 plate, SA-106 Gr. B pipe and SA-105 flanges—and is designed to ASME VIII Division 1 for the pressure, flow rate and connection of each process: 4″ to 36″ bodies, 2″ to 24″ ANSI B16.5 flanges in class #150, #300 or #600, and design pressures from 3 to 104 kg/cm². The cover can be bolted with a davit, quick-opening or with swing bolts.
Each unit ships with its data book: drawing, design calculations, material certificates, welding procedure and welder qualifications, radiography and hydrostatic test. We manufacture them at our metal fabrication plant in Argentina. If the fluid also needs fine filtration, the basket protects the liquid filter housing installed downstream.
Retains solids ahead of pumps, heat exchangers, instruments and cartridge or bag filters.
It is removed, washed and put back in place: no disposable elements. With a spare basket, it is washed offline.
Bolted cover with davit, quick-opening or swing bolts: the basket comes out without dismantling the piping.
Taps for gauges or a ΔP transmitter: rising differential pressure shows when to clean the basket.
2″ to 24″ ANSI B16.5 flanges, class #150, #300 or #600, with the basket area sized for low pressure drop.
ASME VIII Division 1, with design calculations, radiography and hydrostatic test documented for each unit.

Each strainer is designed for the flow rate, pressure and temperature of the process: body diameter, height and connections are defined during engineering.
| Field | Values |
|---|---|
| Series | CCA: SteelFlow basket strainer |
| Body Ø | In inches, from 4 to 36 |
| Height | Overall height of the unit, in inches |
| Configuration | T: side inlet and outlet, in line |
| Connection | Flange class (A #150, B #300, C #600) and Ø in inches, two digits: B06 = 6″ ANSI #300 flange |
| Closure | K bolted cover with davit · R quick-opening · F swing bolts |
| Baskets | 1 |
| Type | C without insulation · K with thermal insulation |
Example: CCA14-60TB06R1C is a strainer with a 14″ body and 60″ overall height, 6″ ANSI #300 flanges, quick-opening cover, one basket and no insulation.
3 to 10 mm perforated plate, or 12 to 900 µm mesh supported on perforated plate, in AISI 304, 316 or 316L stainless steel. It is selected according to the size of the solids and what the downstream equipment needs.
When the differential pressure reaches the cleaning value, the unit is isolated and drained, the cover is opened and the basket is removed with the solids inside. It is washed and put back in place; with a spare basket, the dirty one is washed offline.
There are three: bolted cover with davit (K); vertical quick-opening closure (R), with less downtime at each cleaning; and swing-bolt cover with a hinged arm (F), which opens without removing the bolts.
