Separation of water, oil and fuel aerosols from compressed gases
Pressure vessel that merges water and oil aerosols in gas into droplets drained from the bottom. Single-phase, two-phase or three-phase, one to three stages.
The coalescer vessel is a carbon steel pressure vessel that separates liquid aerosols from a gas stream. Water, oil and fuel aerosols merge in the coalescing element, form larger droplets and run down to the bottom of the vessel, from where they are discharged through an automatic or manual drain.
It can be configured with one to three stages in the same vessel. Upstream, a baffle box—several deflectors at the gas inlet—removes contaminants and the largest droplets before they reach the filter element. After the element, a demister—a set of wire meshes that forms a dense body—adds a coalescing stage: the droplets strike the wires, agglomerate and fall by gravity to the bottom. This way the system also separates very fine sand and condensed hydrocarbons carried by the gas.
Each unit is designed for the process to ASME VIII Division 1, API, NACE and PED 97/23/EC, for low-, medium- and high-pressure compressed gases, with one or more elements and in a single-phase, two-phase or three-phase configuration. It has a quick-opening or bolted closure, custom instrumentation and, if needed, mineral wool thermal insulation. We manufacture it at our metal fabrication plant. The glass microfiber coalescing elements of the AeroSep line are in the industrial filters category.

Oil & Gas and powerIt is a pretreatment at the gas inlet: several deflectors that remove contaminants and the largest aerosols before they reach the filter element. This way the coalescing element works with a lower load and lasts longer.
It is a set of wire meshes that forms a dense body. The droplets carried by the gas strike the wires, agglomerate until they grow larger and fall by gravity to the bottom of the vessel. It can be integrated into the same unit as the final stage.
The gas flow rate and composition, the operating pressure and temperature, which liquid the gas carries and how much, and the connections at the installation. With that, the configuration, the number of stages and elements, and the vessel size are defined.
