Gas filter housing, carbon steel pressure vessel by Exova

Description

The gas filter housing is a carbon steel pressure vessel that holds cartridges to retain solid particles. The gas flows through the cartridge from the outside in, and the solids stay on the surface of the element.

Each unit is engineered and sized for the process flow rate to ASME VIII Division 1, API, NACE and PED 97/23/EC, for low, medium and high pressure. It can be single-element or multi-element, in a vertical or horizontal configuration, with a quick-opening or bolted closure and the connections the installation requires.

Instrumentation is defined for each project—sight glass, pressure gauges, valves, manifold—and the exterior gets custom paint and surface treatment. It can be ordered with mineral wool thermal insulation and electric heat tracing, and skid-mounted. Our engineering department designs it, and we manufacture it at our metal fabrication plant.

Frequently asked questions

Is it custom-built?

Yes. Each unit is designed for the flow rate, pressure and connections of the process, with one or more elements and in a vertical or horizontal configuration. It ships with design calculations, detailed engineering with a 3D drawing, material and welder certificates, and a hydrostatic test.

Which cartridges does it hold?

Particle retention cartridges with outside-to-inside flow, such as pleated polypropylene or glass microfiber cartridges. The type and rating are selected according to the gas, the flow rate and the temperature.

Can it be installed outdoors or used with cold gas?

The exterior gets custom paint and surface treatment, and the unit can be ordered with mineral wool thermal insulation and electric heat tracing. Tell us the installation conditions and we will define it in the project.
