Dual-layer glass microfiber cartridge
Two glass microfiber layers in series for fluids with a high colloidal load
Cartridge with two glass microfiber layers in series, 0.45 to 20 µm, to clarify fluids with a high colloidal load ahead of the final membrane.
The MicroFiber Protec integrates two distinct glass microfiber layers in a single thermally welded module. It works as a series filtration system, designed for fluids with a high load of colloidal contaminants and deformable particles.
The more open-pored outer layer retains coarse particles and colloids; the finer-pored inner layer performs the final polishing of the fluid before membrane filtration. Retention is progressive throughout the depth of the medium: premature clogging of the final layer is avoided, and more liters are processed before the change-out differential pressure is reached.
In a single housing, it does what previously required two separate filtration stages. It is 100 % thermally welded and adhesive-free, with a polypropylene core, cage, and end caps, and it does not shed fibers. It is manufactured in a cleanroom environment, with materials that comply with FDA 21 CFR for food and beverage contact.
More open-pored outer layer for coarse particles and colloids; finer-pored inner layer for final polishing.
Achieves in a single housing what previously required two separate filtration stages.
Filtration area per 10″ module, in lengths from 10″ to 40″ and a 2.7″ (68 mm) outside diameter.
0.45, 0.65, 1.2, 2.5, 5, 10, and 20 µm.

In series. The more open-pored outer glass microfiber layer retains coarse particles and colloids; the finer-pored inner layer performs the final polishing before the membrane. This avoids premature clogging of the final layer.

Up to 80 °C operating temperature. The maximum differential pressure is 5.5 bar at 25 °C in normal flow and 2.1 bar at 25 °C in reverse flow.
Yes: multiple cycles of 30 to 60 minutes at 121 °C, in-line or in an autoclave, in single-open-end cartridges. It also withstands hot water at 80 °C and peracetic acid or sodium hydroxide up to 1 %.
When the fluid carries a high load of colloids and deformable particles: the two layers in series do in one cartridge what previously required two stages. The MicroFiber Plus has a single graded-density layer, 0.8 m² per 10″, and micron ratings up to 40 µm.
