Prefiltration
Absolute-rated dual-layer PP + PES cartridge
Absolute prefiltration and bioburden reduction ahead of the final membrane filter
Pleated polypropylene and PES membrane cartridge, absolute pore size 0.1 to 1.2 µm. Protects final filters in biopharma and in wine, beer, and bottled water.
The PreFiber A PP + PES is a dual-layer hybrid filter cartridge: a pleated polypropylene depth medium followed by a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane as the final filter, in a single element. It is used as a prefilter for final membrane filter cartridges, to reduce the bioburden reaching them and extend their service life.
Its ratings are specified as absolute, from 0.1 to 1.2 µm, and the prefilter pore size, from 0.5 to 3 µm, is also stated for each one. It offers 6,700 cm² of filtration area per 10″.
It is suitable for protein solutions, sera, vaccines, and culture media, as well as for wine, beer, and bottled water. It withstands steam sterilization at 121 °C and sanitization with hot water at 80 °C and with chemicals, which allows it to be reused. It is manufactured in an ISO 7 cleanroom.
Six ratings (0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.2 µm), each with its prefilter pore size stated.
Pleated depth medium upstream and a polyethersulfone membrane as the final filter, in the same cartridge.
Nominal filtration area, in lengths of 10″, 20″, 30″, and 40″.
Multiple cycles of 30 to 60 minutes in single-open-end cartridges.
Sera, vaccines, culture media, and protein solutions; also wine, beer, and bottled water.
Materials compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177 for food contact and non-toxic components according to the Argentine Food Code.

Yes. They are among its applications, and its materials are compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177 for food contact and comply with the migration test of the Argentine Food Code and Mercosur SGT3 standards.
Steam sterilization at 121 °C and water sanitization at 80 °C are suitable only for single-open-end cartridges.
5.5 bar (80 psi) at 25 °C in normal flow and 0.69 bar (10 psi) at 25 °C in reverse flow. The change-out differential pressure is 2 bar.
They share the same construction (polypropylene depth media + PES membrane) and filtration area. The PreFiber A PP + PES states absolute ratings from 0.1 to 1.2 µm, with the prefilter pore size for each, and adds beverage applications; the PreFiber PP + PES is specified with nominal pore sizes from 0.1 to 0.65 µm.
