Dual-layer PP + PES membrane cartridge
Bioburden reduction and prefiltration for final membrane cartridges
Dual-layer cartridge: pleated polypropylene depth medium and a 0.1 to 0.65 µm PES membrane. Reduces bioburden ahead of the final membrane filter.
The PreFiber PP + PES is a hybrid filter cartridge that combines two media in a single element: a pleated polypropylene depth medium upstream and a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane as the final filter. Combining depth media and a membrane in one cartridge gives it a high contaminant retention capacity.
It is installed as a prefilter for final membrane filter cartridges: it reduces the microbial load reaching them and extends their service life. It is designed for protein solutions, sera, vaccines, and culture media.
It withstands repeated sanitization cycles with hot water at 80 °C and with cleaning and disinfection chemicals, as well as multiple steam sterilizations at 121 °C, in-line or in an autoclave. This resistance allows the cartridges to be reused. It is manufactured in an ISO 7 cleanroom.
Pleated polypropylene depth medium upstream and a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane as the final filter.
Nominal filtration area, in lengths from 10″ to 40″ and a 2.75″ (70 mm) diameter.
Four nominal ratings: 0.1, 0.2, 0.45, and 0.65 µm.
Multiple cycles of 30 to 60 minutes. It can also be sanitized with water at 80 °C, peracetic acid, and sodium hydroxide.
Its resistance to repeated sterilization and sanitization cycles allows the cartridges to be reused.
Materials compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177 for food contact and non-toxic components according to the Argentine Food Code.

Two, in the same element: pleated polypropylene depth media upstream and a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane downstream as the final filter. The support layers, cage, core, and ends are polypropylene.
Yes. It withstands multiple cycles of 30 to 60 minutes at 121 °C, with in-line steam or in an autoclave. This is recommended for single-open-end cartridges with internal reinforcement at the 226 or 222 O-ring fitting.
Up to 5.5 bar (80 psi) at 25 °C in normal flow and up to 0.69 bar (10 psi) at 25 °C in reverse flow. The change-out differential pressure is 2 bar.
Peracetic acid up to 1 % (10,000 ppm) at room temperature and sodium hydroxide up to 1 % (10,000 ppm), in cycles of 30 to 60 minutes. It also withstands hot water at 80 °C.
Both combine polypropylene depth media and a PES membrane, with 6,700 cm² per 10″. The PreFiber PP + PES is specified with nominal pore sizes from 0.1 to 0.65 µm; the PreFiber A PP + PES with absolute ratings from 0.1 to 1.2 µm, with the prefilter pore size stated for each.
